The Penns Grove-Carneys Point Food Service department provides a nutritious and affordable breakfast and lunch daily for our students. We incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables; a variety of milk is offered and whole grain items. Our program meets the requirements set forth by the State of New Jersey, Department of Agriculture, Division of Child Nutrition. As a District, we adopted the New Jersey Model School Nutrition Policy, which addresses the nutrient content of all snacks and beverages we have available in our cafeterias.

Our Lunches

Our lunches include five components that provide approximately 1/3 of a child’s daily nutritional needs as mandated by the State of New Jersey, Division of Agriculture, Child Nutrition Program. Each lunch contains Bread/Grains, Meat/Meat Alternate, a vegetable, Fruit, and Milk. Students must select one: a serving of fruit and vegetables.

Food Allergies

Please contact the school nurse and present a doctor's note for any food allergies or dietary needs.

Charging

As a courtesy, the Food Service Department will allow elementary school students to “charge” meals if they should forget their money. Students who are charging their meals or who have not paid prior meal charges will not be permitted to purchase snacks. All charges must be paid immediately. In some cases, the school principal may be involved. Meals on credit policy are posted on the website.  We also accept pre-payment for all meals in each building.
